A new survey from the game industry association has suggested that which game you like to play best depends on which genre you are interested in.
In the survey, the AICPA surveyed gamers about their favorite games, and then compared them to various other genres and genres’ popular game types.
“For a wide variety of games, the answers to these questions were quite different depending on which genres were considered and how the answers were structured,” the survey said.
“In particular, for some genres, people were more likely to play games for the game genres they had played in the past.
For others, it was very similar, with people generally playing games for games they had already played.”
The survey also showed that while people tended to pick games for their own tastes and preferences, some people were much more likely than others to pick one genre for the sake of it.
“The survey found that games with a genre focus, such as strategy, tactical, or strategy games, were popular.”
These genres were most popular among those with a strong preference for games of the same genre as they liked playing, and were the ones that people gravitated towards the most when asked about their games’ genres,” the AicPA report said.
Among the games popular with those who like games with genres, the survey found:”Puzzle games are often played as a means of exploring complex rules, and the mechanics of them have often been described as “the same game you’ve played since elementary school”, so it was natural to be attracted to games that involved those kinds of rules,” the report said, adding that the most popular games were “games that involve complex rules” and “games which feature a high number of different rules”.”
These games are therefore likely to be most suitable for people who like a wide range of genres, and thus have a strong tendency to choose games for that genre.
“A game that has an emphasis on a particular genre was popular with gamers in general.”
Although there was a tendency for some gamers to choose this genre more often than others, people generally tended to play this genre for games that had an emphasis in that genre,” the paper said.
The survey showed that the majority of gamers preferred games where “a large number of rules and variables are at play, with no player-controlled character”.”
The number of variables can also influence whether a game is challenging and enjoyable,” the authors wrote.”
It’s important to remember that people who prefer puzzle games tend to enjoy challenging games as well, as they tend to be a challenge to overcome and a challenge for the player to master.
“The authors noted that the survey also asked players to name the most challenging puzzle game they had ever played, and it was the best of the games they answered that were the most successful at making people feel like they were solving the puzzle.
