The director of the new “Star Wars” trailer has praised the film’s emotional appeal and said it will capture the essence “of the universe”.
The trailer for the film, released on Friday, opens with the iconic first shot of Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) falling into the ocean as he prepares to fight the evil Emperor (Andy Serkis) and lands in a snowstorm.
“We’re just going to do it in this way,” J.J. Abrams said in the trailer.
“And it’s a very emotional film.”
“Star Trek Into Darkness” has taken the world by storm with critics and audiences praising its imaginative and emotional take on the classic science fiction franchise.
“The movie is a great thing for all Star Wars fans and I think it’s going to capture the emotional essence of all of the films,” said Abrams.
“This is a very big universe, so I think there’s going be a very rich feeling of exploration.”
Abrams said the film would feature some of the most iconic characters from the original trilogy.
“There are going to be some iconic characters, but they’re not necessarily the ones that you see in the film,” he said.
Abrams also said he was pleased with the tone of the film. “
It’s going for a very deep dive into the mythology of the Star Wars universe.”
