There are a few players who could be in line for a big payday if they play well in the NHL this season.
The Maple Leafs have been looking for a number of high-end wingers and one of the biggest names is James van Riemsdyk.
Van Riemstyk is an unrestricted free agent this summer and could be looking at a big raise.
The 28-year-old is a skilled winger who can be a physical force, scoring goals and providing assists on a nightly basis.
He has one year left on his contract and has been a strong possession player for the Maple Leafs this season with the team having a top-three Corsi for percentage in the league.
He was also the top scorer for the Toronto Marlies last season.
He is currently playing in the KHL with Lokomotiv Moscow.
The Leafs also have some big names who could receive big money from teams if they make the playoffs.
The biggest names could be Mark Scheifele, Auston Matthews, Mitch Marner and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins.
Scheifely has had a fantastic season, scoring 42 goals and 45 points.
Matthews and Nugent have been among the top scorers in the League this season, but have not been able to keep up with the big names like Matthews, Marner or Nugent.
The other two top scoreers are Marner, who is averaging 24 goals and 33 points per season, and Nugdens goal scorer who is tied for second in the Hockey East with 17 goals and 29 points.
Marner is also the team’s leading scorer, with a team-leading 14 goals.
All three are signed to long-term contracts for the next four seasons.
Scheivelts team could get a huge payday with an impressive performance against the Canucks.
The Canucks are one of several teams that are desperate for scoring from their top players and the Maple Leaf are a perfect fit for them.
Vancouver has scored 17 goals against the Maple Leakes in their last six games.
The teams last meeting was a 5-2 loss in the first round.
